I had the privilege of meeting photojournalist Jo-Anne McArthur last fall at The Compassion Arts and Culture & Animals Foundation Festival. Jo-Anne is the creator of We Animals, a project which documents, through photography, animals in the human environment. She has won numerous awards, is widely published, and is the subject of the documentary film, The Ghosts in Our Machine.
Hearing Jo-Anne talk about her work was a profound experience that continues to guide my way through my creative path. As an animal activist, it’s easy to wind up in a pretty hopeless place. I hope this conversation with Jo-Anne lifts you like it did me.
Thanks to Jo-Anne and Lantern Books, I’ll be giving away a copy of Captive later this week! Keep an eye on my Twitter page for details!
