MikeyPod 72 | Koinonia Community Member Israel

November 5, 2006 by Michael Harren

My spiritual companion Israel joins me this week to talk about his former community, his conversion to Judaism, and his reasons for moving to Koinonia. Music from The Magnetic Fields and Alexis Cole.

Thanks to John Whiteside for the camera and to Sharon in Tampon and Derek Etnyre for the donations to the MikeyPod Recording Fund!

About Michael Harren

Brooklyn-based composer and performer Michael Harren combines elements of classical composition with experimental electronics and storytelling to create hypnotic and boldly intimate work that walks the line between Laurie Anderson, Peter Gabriel and Dead Can Dance.

I’m amazed at all the perfectly good items there are in the trash sometimes. We’re so disconnected from waste now that nobody thinks anything about throwing something in the trash, plus I think that we don’t expect things to last for long so we don’t feel bad about throwing things away and replacing them with new ones. Look at iPods for example.

Great guest! I certainly believe the deception with the food was hostile and cruel. To conscientiously decieve someone like that just to see their reaction is sick and twisted, almost torturous.

This was a great podcast. Are there any agnostics or atheists at the commune?

I am soooo slow responding here! Sorry, Adam! yeah it is amazing how much we find in just a couple of stops.

There is an agnostic/athiest here at Koinonia, but he doesn’t really want to be on the podcast. I’ll keep working on him. 🙂
