I have been a big fan of Amanda Duarte and her monthly salon Dead Darlings for quite a while now, so I was really excited to talk to her on the podcast. Amanda’s Facebook rant about Planned Parenthood went viral recently, and she talks about the aftermath on the show.

Amanda Duarte is a writer-performer who lives in New York City. Her writing has appeared in Marie Claire, Salon, Buzz Feed, and the floor of the Belasco Theatre for the Broadway production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. She has performed at many comedy and storytelling events in the city, including How I Learned, The Soundtrack Series, Bare, and Steamboat Comedy. She is the host of the monthly artists’ salon Dead Darlings at Judson Memorial Church.

Music:

About Michael Harren

Brooklyn-based composer and performer Michael Harren combines elements of classical composition with experimental electronics and storytelling to create hypnotic and boldly intimate work that walks the line between Laurie Anderson, Peter Gabriel and Dead Can Dance.
